John T. Davis: His Own Trail is a poetic portrait of the enigmatic filmmaker, artist and musician from Holywood, County Down.
John is Ireland's most internationally respected documentary filmmaker, a reputation established with films like Shellshock Rock, Route 66 and Hobo. This film explores the director’s unique outlook on life and his talents as a musician. Interspersed throughout is footage of John travelling through America, traversing the landscape that inspires his dreams, fantasies and realities, as well as clips from a number of his documentaries. Lensed in black and white, director Paul McParland captures John performing his music and reflecting on his life and films.
